Tom is an architect with extensive experience designing and delivering projects across a range of sectors. He joined Bryden Wood in 2017 and has worked within and led multidisciplinary design teams across a range of scales, sectors, and work stages. This experience enables a detailed understanding of construction techniques, technology, and materiality to inform the design of truly integrated spaces.
During his time at the company, Tom has played a key role in several aviation projects – designing elegant architectural solutions that respond to budgetary and time pressures within a restricted airside environment. Since 2020, he has directed the design and delivery of a large industrial facility in Cologne, Germany, leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver a flexible manufacturing facility as part of a wider client campus.
Tom worked on the development of a new ‘vertical school’ typology, challenging the traditional model of a primary school in response to spatial constraints in urban contexts. This new design was realised in a new primary school delivered as part of a wider masterplan adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Park in East London.
Before joining Bryden Wood, Tom had experience working on a variety of projects of differing scales, across practices ranging in size. During this time, he helped to deliver a range of residential schemes across London, dealing with complex planning constraints and heritage projects within sensitive conservation areas.
