With over two decades experience as a dedicated fire safety professional, Tom oversees and implement’s the vision and direction of CLM Group and its component businesses CLM Fireproofing, CLM Fire Consulting and CLM Fire Testing.
Tom’s career began with the Royal Air Force, where he served as a firefighter, protecting and saving the lives of fellow servicemen and experiencing first-hand the effects of fire and the importance of stringent fire safety management. His first civilian role was Fire Safety Manager with Goldman Sachs, looking after assets in London, Paris, Zurich, Geneva and Madrid. Tom progressed to Head of Fire Safety at Affinity Sutton, Head of Fire Risk Management at BB7 and then to Director of Fire at Frankham Risk Management Services, where he took responsibility for the division, its outputs, growth and profile.
His previous job as Head of Fire Safety at Lendlease saw him work with the design teams of Googles HQ at King's Cross, the Elephant Park urban regeneration project, Glen Parva prison, Manchester Town Hall, Birmingham Smithfield's redevelopment, 8 Bishops Gate and the Pan Pacific Hotel which gave him valuable insight into the wants and needs of tier 1 clients working on complex and iconic construction projects.
Tom has gained extensive leadership and management experience in both private and public sector organisations, including corporate, consulting, affordable housing and construction.
His growing profile in the industry saw him named second most influential person in the fire safety in 2019 by IFSEC Global Influencers and appointed to the Executive Board of the Association of Specialist Fire Protection as a Non-executive Member in 2021.
Tom was appointed Group CEO of CLM in September 2023 and is co-host of The Open Fire podcast – an honest and informed podcast on fire safety through collaboration, research and innovation.
