I've been in the construction industry after leaving university in 1992, I've mostly worked within the joinery sector. I started off my career in Ireland and have ended up working for Jeld Wen UK for the last 5 years. My background has been in sales and product and my passion is about having new materials, new process and pushing towards adaption of timber in modern methods of construction and sustainability.

Statement:

"I started my construction career in 1992 amidst a recession. In the early days I got so many push backs being young, female and just wanting a decent paying job. Once, I was interviewed 8 times for a sales job, they just couldn't believe a female could perform this role on building sites and it would be too tough. Because of my no nonsense personality I asked them to just get on with it and give me the job or I'd not be back the 9th time. I walked out that day with the job and I delighted in proving them wrong about whether or not a female could work on a building site. That was 1995 and I'm pleased to say things have moved on a lot."
