Julian trained at Moshe Safdie Associates in Boston MA and ORMS Architects and Designers in London before forming dMFK alongside Paul Forbes and Ben Knight, aiming to create a practice offering strong director involvement in all projects.

He enjoys working in constrained and difficult contexts, has a solid understanding of placemaking and has a particular interest in community consultation and the planning process. Currently, Julian is heading up a range of large-scale dMFK schemes, including residential, commercial, religious and heritage restoration projects.

Outside the studio, Julian is an RIBA external examiner and part-time lecturer in Professional Practice. He is also the co-organiser of SwiMIPIM, an open-water swimming event in Cannes that raises money for charity Streets of London.
