Since co-founding SimpsonHaugh in 1987, Ian has played an integral role in building the practice’s strong portfolio and reputation as leading urban and civic architects.

Ian is a passionate advocate of revitalising cities, using contemporary architectural language and high-quality design, to create sustainable, and viable propositions which engender a sense of community through identity, and act as symbols of civic pride, confidence, and ambition.

With a significant architectural portfolio in the UK and internationally, Ian initiates and oversees all design work across the practice’s studios in Manchester, London, and Birmingham. SimpsonHaugh have completed three skyline-changing buildings in London: Circus West Village, the first completed scheme in the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station; One Blackfriars, a mixed-use scheme comprising a 50-storey residential tower, hotel, retail, and public plaza; and Dollar Bay, a 31-storey residential tower in Canary Wharf.

Ian is regularly commissioned as a keynote speaker and has delivered thought-provoking lectures to national and international audiences.
