Ian is Chief Buildings & Civils Engineer in Network Rail’s Technical Authority. He has overall accountability for the control frameworks that manage risk for the asset management lifecycle for Network Rail’s Built Environment; Structures; Earthworks; Drainage; Vegetation; Mining Risk; Asset Protection; and Tunnels. Managing the railway’s oldest assets, with limited funding presents considerable strategic and short-term pressing challenges to its engineers and asset managers.
In the last 7 years he has also trained as a therapeutic counsellor and has volunteered with charities supporting Carers, as well as those who feel life is no longer worth living. He sees a small number of clients in private practice.
He is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Director, and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.
