Erin McDowell
Having studied at the University of Leeds for 4 years, first doing a Medical Sciences degree and then a Management Masters, I joined the world of work within a very different industry to construction. However, throughout my time in the Medical Device industry, I found myself pushing to be involved in projects related to the refurbishment of new and existing manufacturing sites and that is where my interest in construction began. I joined Mace as a Construction Project Manager within the Life Sciences & Pharma sector, a role that allows me to apply my knowledge of the client’s industry and my project management experience. I have always been passionate about coaching and mentoring women to help them achieve their dreams and maximise their potential and I mentored a few women through the Graduate Scheme into permanent managerial roles in my last company. As a Women in Construction ambassador, I’d like to focus on promoting construction and STEM subjects to girls at school/college and developing further mentoring relationships.
Statement:
My goal is to help women develop the relevant skills and maximise their confidence, whilst working to improve the workplace culture, so everyone can forget about their gender and focus on getting the job done.
