MSc Arch Eng, PhD, CIBSE Andrea joined Stanton Williams in summer 2023 as the practice Sustainability Manager. Prior to his appointment, Andrea developed an ability and enthusiasm to drive a sustainability agenda within architectural practices, while working as Head of Sustainability at Open Project (Italy), and as Sustainability Champion with WilkinsonEyre. Thanks to several years of prior work experience, including with PRP, UCL, WSP UK, he developed a sound knowledge of building performance, passive and low-carbon design, energy, daylight and thermal comfort analysis, embodied carbon, which he can use to inform design while Stanton Williams. Upon completing his doctoral research on the risk of overheating for residential buildings in the UK within the context of climate change adaptation, Andrea gained CIBSE membership and has been a part-time lecturer at the UCL Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources since 2019.

Statement:

Teaching at a top UK university and working daily with young and very talented professional, I could appreciate how - finally - driving a more sustainable future has become an absolute imperative for the current as well as the future generations of built environment professionals. We cannot afford to find ourselves unprepared to deal with the enormous challenge of addressing the climate emergency. I really do believe that this will be remember as THE defining challenge for the present era.
