Akhila K. Murali is an accomplished Digital Construction Manager with extensive expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and a proven ability to implement and manage digital construction processes across a diverse range of international projects. Currently based in London with McLaren Construction Group, Akhila leads project teams in utilising digital platforms for design coordination, fire stopping, digitalisation, and information management, ensuring compliance with group standards during project mobilisation and deployment.

Her career is marked by a commitment to enhancing collaboration and driving cultural change within organisations. By providing comprehensive training to project teams and supply chain members, Akhila fosters a deep understanding of BIM protocols and enhances overall information management and BIM maturity. Her role involves managing the delivery and federation of models throughout the project lifecycle while collaborating closely with design managers to define strategies and ensure successful project outcomes.

Previously, Akhila served as a BIM Carbon Consultant at L&P Group in London, where she played a crucial role in producing and managing project BIM documentation, including BIM Execution Plans and Master Information Delivery Plans. Her efforts focused on developing sustainable strategies for international projects, conducting life cycle assessments, and successfully achieving BREEAM certifications for various developments.

Akhila's journey in the field began in India, where she honed her skills in senior engineering roles. At Kirby Building Systems, she designed and implemented workflows to convert complex Tekla Structures models into structural Revit models. At vConstruct Private Limited, she led multi-trade BIM coordination and in-wall coordination projects, demonstrating her proficiency in automation and digital fabrication, which significantly streamlined workflows and ensured high-quality deliverables.

Akhila holds a Master of Technology in Building Technology and Construction Management from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from Mahatma Gandhi University. Her professional journey is further complemented by her role as a facilitator at IIT Madras, where she shares insights on integrating Augmented and Virtual Reality in construction management and BIM software applications.
